While most of us probably dislike Dick Roche it is not a reason to deny him the same treatment as any other candidate. Virtually all candidates would request a recount where the gap is only 3 votes. Tom McHugh of FG got a bigger change in Galway East after his recount. Ivana Bacik looked for a recount where the gap was 150 and didn’t get the same degree of abuse.

I don’t recall Dick Roach asking for a recount when his party cut the welfare of widows and blind people. #ge11

Every candidate is entitled to ask for a recount, especially when the gap is that small.
Look at Galway east the recount changed who was eliminated.

Dick was never known for his Humility, perhaps soon he will become accustomed to humiliation.

Perhaps he’d like us to do the entire election again until we get it right?

Entitled is one thing. Right is another. He wasn’t right to because he wasn’t getting elected anyway. But hey, it made for entertainment for us to see him kicked on his arse TWICE! He was easily one of the worst government ministers, and he’s come across an awful selfish person to the end.

As usual, wasting time & money, the great Roche knows he wont get elected, it doesn’t matter whether he goes before his FF running mate or not, he will be eliminated anyway. What is it about FF, no matter how wrong they are, they hate to give up power. thanks to him the electorate will have to wait a little longer before we have a stable government, which needs to hit the ground running to clean up the horrible mess created by the Big Dick & his blinkered cronies. We should remember this when they make an effort to return to power next time.

The real issue here is the thousands of idiots who voted for him in the first place. Of course Roche is entitled to a recount,especially when it is so tight.

Entitled to a recount? When his own FF co runner said it makes not a whit of difference to the outcome, both of them are out of the running anyway, only 70% of a quota between them? No, this was just grandstanding. Remember all the eliminations up to now are not surpluses, they are the next choice of a voter, whose first choice has been wiped, so it was a fairly simple addition process. Are Wicklow counters especially thick? I don’t think so!

At the risk of sounding like John O’Donoghue, isn’t it a bit ironic that if we had electronic votes we could have dispatched poor Dick to his fate with more speedy and certainty. I miss the e-voting machines. It gave me a brief feeling of a crazed evil Bond villain sending the election hopefuls to their PR-STV doom. Seriously, though, respect to all who stood before the people regardless of their victory or defeat.

I hate Dick Roche; however, anyone who says he isn’t right to ask for a recount is a moron.
