Poll: Should parents be fined for taking their children out of school for holidays?

Experts say it can disrupt a child’s education to miss school, but parents argue that travelling abroad is expensive during summer holidays. What do you think?

MORE THAN ONE fifth of parents in Britain have been fined for taking their children on holidays during the school term, according to a recent survey.

The Department of Education there brought in new rules to crack down on term-time absences, which experts say can disrupt a child’s education.

However parents argue that travelling abroad during summer holidays is far more expensive than at other times of the year, and that their child’s education is unlikely to suffer by missing school.

So what do you think? Should parents be fined for taking their children out of school to go on holiday?
