A RECENT STUDY by the University of Bristol has shown that sexual education across ten different countries is ‘outdated’ and taught to students far too late.

In Ireland, sexual education is currently taught as part of the Social and Personal Health Education (SPHE). A minimum of one class per week is recommended for junior cycle students, aged from around 13-15, which some say does not need to be changed.

However, the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre has said previously that sexual education should be taught from as young as 11, as children are constantly exposed to sexual messages and imagery.
