Poll: Should the day Junior Cert results are released be changed?

Senator Averil Power has proposed the release of Junior Cert result be changed from the traditional Wednesday to Friday instead in an attempt to combat underage drinking. What do you think of the proposal?

SENATOR AVERIL POWER has proposed a new approach to tackling underage drinking: changing the day Junior Certificate results are released from the traditional Wednesday to Friday instead.

Power said she believed underage students were more likely to engage in binge drinking during the week, as they would be more likely to gain entrance to a pub or club on a quieter night.

Last year, the National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals similarly said that they thought moving the results to a Friday would help in stemming the underage drinking that occurs on results night.

What do you think? Would moving the results from midweek to Fridays help to prevent underage drinking?

Poll Results:

No - if they want to drink, it won't stop them (1289)
Yes - but just a little (170)
Yes - it would help substantially (118)
I don't know (28)
