Poll: Should TV programmes be allowed to show the slaughter of farm animals?

Tonight’s Ear to the Ground programme will show its presenter killing a turkey. An animal rights group has called for the scene to be removed. Do you agree?

AN ANIMAL RIGHTS group has urged RTÉ programme Ear to the Ground not to air a scene in its show tonight of its presenter killing a turkey.

ARAN claims the slaughter of animals should not be broadcast, and expressed concern about children being exposed to it.

The programme has said the method of slaughter used is “humane” and it has previously been argued that people who eat meat should see how it gets from the farm to their plate.

But we want to know what you think: Should TV programmes be allowed to show the slaughter of farm animals?
