Its so difficult to decide who is going to inherit my debts

It’s very messy for your family if you don’t. Not they won’t have any rights, but dependants could be waiting for a year without being able to get their hands on a penny for day to day living costs. I’ve seen it happen on a few occasions, and it adds another level of unhappiness in top of the grieving.

I’ll give my crap old dusty laptop to my nephew, my broken stereo speakers to the dump, and my worn down 10 year old clothes to a charity shop.
Thats all I have, with the exception of my galaxy s2, which is going to the grave with me.

When i own something that’s worth passing on to someone or when i have any dependants, I’ll draw up a will.

Its easy make a will. Ive had one sence i was in my mid twenties. Ive up dated it a ccouple of times as well. You don’t even need to go to a solicitors. you can buy one in easons just follow the instructions with it and get a couple of witnesses.

We made one when kids were small to make very clear our guardianship instructions (there is a very religious branch of the family I did not want raising my kids).

Also, the bit of farmland, scrappy as may be, leaves nothing but trouble if not clearly bequeathed in a will. People be shunning one another generations later. No thanks.

I made mine when I was 21 after the birth of my son, indeed to know he will be ok if anything happens.

Not right now, I’m in my twenties and single with no dependents, if something happens to me, which I hope it doesn’t, I’m happy for it to go to my dad as next of kin and him to do with it as he sees fit.

While considering this issue I would ask people to think about enduring power of attorney also , in the event that should you become mentally incapacitated eg dementia , head injured you can nominate a certain person to administer your affairs , because otherwise financial affairs can be in limbo for a long time

The only thing I’m leaving is my body to science, I have nothing to leave my kids so it cuts down on the aggro after wards

I turned 30last week and made mine, been meaning to do it for years. Don’t have much to leave but did it so my wishes would be known. No church please and cremation. It’s good if you want specific items going to certain people. Not that it matters to you but it might mean a lot to them when you are gone.

I’m leaving everything to the government when I die….. Oh wait !

I’ve been meaning to get it done, just that god forbid anything happened the mrs or me the kids would be put into the care if someone we trust and all proceeds from our assets were put into a trust fund for them.

Won’t have a thing left to leave the way this country is going!!!!

Please consider it. It is not solely about your financial assets. It can have monumental impact on any minors in your care as regards their upbringing and guardianship. Failure to make legal provisions can lead to a vary unstable environment for them at their most vulnerable. I understand and respect many find the prospect daunting or morose, but please put those who depend on you first.

I don’t have anything of significant value, so if I were to die tomorrow my belongings would transfer to my next of kin (in my case, my mother).
I plan on doing one if and when I buy a house, or when I have kids, whatever comes first.

No because I plan to do mine off-the-books. In other words, my kids will not be subject to an inheritance tax and all the other government charges.

I’m taking my late father’s attitude and not making one. Although he did actually make a will while still a young man, he refused to carry an organ-donor card for fear of tempting fate. His attitude was based on old -fashioned superstition but I would see it in the following terms……the very act of making a will could easily cause unpropitious perturbations in the fabric of the “Electro-Magnetic Quantum Vacuum” and bring about my early demise. As a matter of fact I use this excuse for no longer doing very much at all in life.
