Poll: Will Greece leave the euro?

No government, jittery markets and new elections on the cards. Is Greece on the verge of leaving he single currency?

GREECE’S POLITICAL LEADERS are meeting again today to make one last attempt at forming a government. The Greek president will call political leaders to an emergency summit today but if no deal to form a government is reached, as seems likely, new elections will be called for next month, the outcome of which is far from certain.

As we’ve been examining today, there is an increasing belief that the heavily indebted nation could be on the verge of tearing up its bailout deal and exiting the euro altogether particularly if left-wing parties do well in the new elections.

It is far from clear as to how this will happen or what impact it will have on other eurozone nations but in one indication of its likelihood, some UK bookmakers suspended betting on Greece exiting the euro this week. However, German and EU officials have continued to say publicly that there is no alternative and that Greece must honour its debts.

But what do you think, will Greece leave the euro?
