These are the videos Irish people couldn't stop watching this year

Be prepared to say ‘Oh yeah, I remember that’ a few times.

DISNEY SONGS, SINGING priests and Ice Bucket Challenges gone wrong were just some of the videos Irish people watched in their droves this year.

As part of its annual roundup, YouTube released details of the most popular videos, music videos and channels worldwide as well as individual countries.

The most popular video among Irish people came from a 2013 film, Frozen, and features a singalong version of the song Let it Go. The video has received 247 million views since it was first uploaded in January.

The second most popular video was the singing priest Fr Ray Kelly and his cover of the Leonard Cohen song Hallelujah. The video has received more than 38 million views since it was uploaded on April.

The popularity of the video resulted in Fr Kelly, who is the parish priest in Oldcastle, Co. Meath, signing a record deal with Universal Music Ireland in August.

Other videos that Irish people couldn’t stop watching included Look Up by Gary Turk, a message to people to put their phone away and experience the world around them, Failte Ireland’s video for St Patrick’s Day called #IrelandInspires, and funny videos such an Irish teenager’s Ice Bucket Challenge gone wrong.

The top ten channels watched on YouTube were mostly gaming and comedy channels. Swedish gamer PewDiePie was the most popular channel watched this year – he has 32 million subscribers – while others like Stampylonghead, VanossGaming and TheDiamondMinecraft made the list.

Irish gaming channel JackSepticEye came in at number ten. The channel, which is run by Sean McLoughlin in Athlone, Co. Westmeath, recently crossed the two million subscriber mark after only having 2,500 subscribers more than a year ago.
