Good enough 4 the p***k…had no problem sending thousands of Irish to their death in the most pointless war ever for the aristocrats of Europe but was against us in our legitimate fight for freedom.

    Is that a serious question?

As to legitimacy; Redmond had a pretty big mandate from the Irish people. The living ones. Praise took his from “the dead generations”.

Any volunteers who died during the Rising, at least died for Ireland. Nobody died for Ireland in WW1.

@Assel No but didn;t give people a choice either and brought death to 260 civilians, injury to 2,217 civilians and endangered many more by choosing to garrison his men adjacent to the Rotunda and Coombe and around residential areas of the city

@Sean at the beginning of the war I’m pretty sure many who went over thought that by fighting to secure home rule they were fighting for Ireland

Right Séan so it was only volunteers who died in the rising? All those Irish children were mad to get killed.

By the way, the lads killed in WW1 volunteered too, so how can Redmond be blamed if Pearse cannot?

Furthermore, Redmond didn’t start the war. Pearse did start the rising, against the explicit orders of Eoin MacNeil
