Is councillor Mark Wall a backup firefighter or does he just have no council work to do on a weekday morning?

@Kevin Higgins: Photo opportunity if he is anything like some of the councillor’s where I live he would go to the opening of an envelope anything to get their name & face in a newspaper, social media. I come from Athy & hope that everyone is ok. I haven’t lived there in 40+ yrs but have to say that the last time I was down there & wanted to take my mam out for dinner. The choices seem to be a pub, or the hotel on the way into town from Dublin. Very disappointed

@bings: Could not agree more I live in athy now and there isn’t even a pub to go to now for some grub. There is a cllr Tom Redmond who happened to appear at the opening of a chipper and a Moldovan shop in the space of a week. Cllr Wall’s father is jack wall need I say anymore..

@Nellie Oneill: We did look. Where would you suggest that doesn’t just serve chips with everything? Even my mother said that there was nothing in the town anymore. I think the town needs a good clean just looking at the outside of the shops, The windows in some of the shops looked as if they hadn’t seen a drop of water or a cloth to clean them in months. My mam sometimes goes for dinner/lunch in Sr Consilio Cuan Mhuire (we use to have a different name for it when I lived there). We went to Teach Dolmain in Carlow & had a really nice meal with a good selection on the menu.
