It seems like the main point of history is to look at today’s events and be able to say with confidence; we’ve done this stupid sh**e before and we didn’t learn from it then either.

    I agree Greg. I loved history but was surprised that when I was learning it for the inter cert the war in the balkans was raging yet no one in class even the teacher mentioned it yet lesser wars from the past were taught.

    I wonder if modern day teachers talk about what’s happening in Gaza or Crimea thus showing history as a relevant living subject.
