It’s political correctness gone mad.giving coverage to someone against the rising and pro sending irish men to fight an English war. What are they trying to say. If they want to publicise it fair enough but not in the context of the easter rising.

We can’t even blame political correctness for this one Nuala. It’s The establishment, Not only trying to dictate the narrative, but Ram it down our throats.
We’re not a Republic since The “Bloodless Coup” By the European Commission. Never mind our twisted politics.

I just read a piece in the irish times with acting Taoiseach enda kenny giving a speech and what he says is so at odds with the reality of his tenure it’s laughable. I honestly don’t believe he works in the interests of the Irish people but wants to disinfranchise and weaken us as a nation fattening us up for sale to however wants.his disdain for the unemployed and homeless is shameful and contrary to any vision the original signatories to the constitution had for Ireland.

I call choosing to garrison your troops in and around hospitals and residential areas leading to, over 2000 civilian’s being injured, 260 being killed and an unknown number of others having to go without food for the duration a mark of disregard and disdain.

I’m sure you would. I wonder what you would call sending Irish men to slaughter and be slaughtered on the fields of Europe. Would you call that disregardful and disdainful. Tens of thousands killed by Irish men, but you might call them honorable. Depends on who you kill, not how many, seemingly.

Yes, of course it depends on who you kill. Killing soldiers of an army that has invaded France is not the same as shooting unarmed local policemen

Because, of course, no civilians were killed in WW1. Lucky shots the lot of ‘em.

    “No civilians killed in WW1″…
There were plenty of civilians killed if you consider the Merchant seamen including the sinking of the Lusitania off the Cork coast and RMS Leinster. Then there were the zeplin raids over the east coast of England where Hull got a pounding. German warships shelling coastal towns like Scarborough and the fishing fleets sunk and crews left to drown. My gr uncle Tom Kennedy was a trawler fisherman killed when his vessel struck a German mine three weeks after Armistice was signed.

Seems as if the British killed no civilians. Widgery report all over again I think.
