@Fiona deFreyne: While I’m in favour of repealing the 8th amendment, no mother to be would say, I’m expecting an unborn. Naturally they say, I’m expecting a baby because that is what they are expecting to have at the end of a pregnancy.

@Cindy Crawford: the expectation of a baby is a baby in the future of the pregnancy and birth are successful.

It is generally an error in logic and in method to define anything by a negative attribute. ‘Unborn” relative to baby is an oxymoron. A baby is born. Until it is born it is not a baby. It may be human nature to anticipate the future process of birth, positively and lovingly to anticipate a future even, birth, but until birth has actually take place in the present there is no baby.

@Fiona deFreyne: You can say what you like but if I were pregnant I would say I’m having a baby. Most people would ask at a more advanced stage, do you know if it’s a boy or a girl? People don’t wait until the baby is born. Do you wait until the day of someone’s birthday to buy them a present.

@Fiona deFreyne: so are you saying it’s not a baby until it’s born and to call it such is wrong?
Sorry but that frequently used argument is the most pathetic of the lot.

@Tom Burke: If you need to justify your murder of another person, it helps to dehumanise them first. More palatable that way.
