Poll: Is it ok to shut down cities during protests?

Legitimate form of anger or just a nuisance?

DUBLIN’S TRAFFIC WAS disrupted today after hauliers blockaded the Port Tunnel.

Of course, the strategy of disruption is a well-worn one, with farmers, taxi drivers and other groups having blocked or gone slow on major roads in recent years.

Even marches such as last week’s water charges protest cause disruption for commuters.

But is it ok to do this? Does making a point make it ok to cause disruption?

We’re asking: Is it ok to shut down cities during protests?

Poll Results:

Yes (4516)
Marches are fine, blocking roads isn't (2477)
No (2176)
Only on weekends (465)
I don't know (196)
