PSNI DETECTIVES in Belfast are appealing for information following a kidnapping and assault last week.

Three men were sitting in a parked car in the Knockbreda Park area shortly before midnight on Thursday night (28 June) when another car approached and its four occupants, armed with hammers, got out and smashed the windows of the parked car.

A 27-year-old man who was sitting in that parked car was taken into the second car and brought to an unknown house in the Holywood area.

There, police say he was assaulted several times before he was released and brought to his home between 1am and 2am. He was taken to hospital for treatment and his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

One of the attackers is described as being about 5′ 4” in height, about 18 years old, of slim build and with short fair hair. He was wearing a navy hooded tracksuit and gloves. The assailants’ car is described as an dark-coloured old style Volkswagen Passat.

Detectives are appealing to anyone who has any information to contact Musgrave Police Station in Belfast. Information can also be left anonymously with the Crimestoppers hotline.
