Pumpkin seeds recalled over insect infestation fears

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) said the product was being recalled as a precaution.

A BATCH OF pumpkin seeds have been recalled over fears they might be infested with insects.

Lifeforce pumpkin seeds with a best before date of July 2017 are supplied by Boyne Valley Foods.

A message from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) said customers will be notified of the recall notice in the shop they bought the product.

It read:

As a precaution, Boyne Valley Group is recalling the above batch of Lifeforce Pumpkin Seeds due to possible insect infestation.

“Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in stores that were supplied with the implicated batch.”

Last month, a food firm recalled sesame seeds for fears they may contain moth larvae.

The FSAI said Pallas Foods issued a food alert for the Salamander Gourmet Food Co Sesame Seeds;,product code: PU300; pack size; one kilogram.

The FSAI said the product originated in India.
