Raiders steal cigarettes and cash from family filling station

Four masked men armed with crowbars broke into a woman’s home late on Monday night and forced her to open the family’s business for them to raid.

FOUR MASKED MEN broke into the home of a woman in her 50s in Co Laois and forced her to open the family’s filling station business so they could steal cigarettes and cash.

The men, armed with crowbars, forced their way into the woman’s home at around 11pm on Monday evening.

After robbing Bergin’s filling station, the raiders then brought the woman back to her home and locked her into the bathroom.

Gardaí believe the men escaped from the scene shortly before midnight in a black Audi A4 and drove towards Abbeyleix.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Cullahill area of Co Laois on Monday evening or night to contact them on 057 8730580. The Garda Confidential Line is 1800 666 111.
