A rainfall warning's been issued - and we can expect the odd thunderstorm too

We’re in for some wet weather this weekend.

A RAINFALL WARNING has been issued for parts of the country.

The yellow alert rain warning covers Wexford, Wicklow, Cork and Waterford. It covers the hours from 9pm this evening till 2pm tomorrow.

This is Met Éireann’s advisory:

“Preliminary warning: there is the risk of some heavy/thundery rain Saturday night/Sunday morning giving some local spot flooding.”

Heavy rain is also expected across Connacht and Leinster today.

According to the latest outlook from the weather service, it will start off mainly dry across Munster and Ulster – but the rest of the country can expect “isolated thunderstorms” to go with the wet weather.

“The rain will clear northwards this morning or early afternoon and it will become mainly dry everywhere for a time with sunny spells.

However showers will push up from the south later in the afternoon and extend to all areas by evening time.

The outlook for the entire country for tomorrow says we can expect more showers – some heavy – and that the risk of thunder will remain.

The unsettled weather looks likely to continue on Monday and Tuesday – but a spell of dry and bright weather will follow that, it’s forecast, from Wednesday through till Friday.
