Completely agree. There’s a lot of gangs operating like this in most parts of the country who are targeting Audi/BMW and other cars like this so they can be stripped down and sold on Eastern Europe. However sounds like the above car was going to be used for a robbery. These cars easily outrun cop cars.

I’d gladly have one. The running costs in this country are too high though. I hope to move to the UK in a year or two and something like this or a A6 RS6 will be on the cards hopefully.

I’ve always been interested in cars and I know that something like that ain’t gonna be cheap to run but hey it’s gonna be some crack to drive. I’ve had cars in the past few years that have been a lot dearer to run!!

Inform yourself you sad individual. Penalty points cannot be wiped by individual Gardai when issued. How many more times does this need to be explained to you? The reason this car was taken in such a targeted fashion is obvious. It will most certainly be used for a serious crime, or crime spree. I doubt it is for exportation. That particular model is in fact a very rare and seriously powerful car. To suggest the only reason for it being publicised is because it is a Garda ‘members’ car or otherwise is just another dim witted swipe. Can people not see that it would be wise to get this car before the damage is done, hence the publicity.

Seems that way, my father in laws car was stolen 2 weekends ago, house was broken into do they could get the keys. The Gardai think they are been stolen to ship abroad.

The engine size does not make it expensive. Look up the guide price for a car that age. The big engine devalues an old car because of the high running cost. I’ve been working in the motor trade for 12 yrs and there is always a “lamb” that is fooled by big engines and name badges! They love paying over the odds and bragging about. Ring any bells!?

Difference strokes for different folks. Guide price goes out the window if a lot of people want the car. My point was less about the price the car and more about why this persons stolen car makes the news. It’s not like a priceless work of art that was taken, that’s my point. Maybe you shouldn’t have replied to my comment if you didn’t want your reply questioned. What people pay and the actual value of the car have always varied, it still does not change the actual value. Big tax and big fuel consumption means less value.

I don’t mind my reply being questioned, I welcome debate. Just maybe not in that manner. But a high performance car like that will always attract a higher price, a lot of people are willing to disregard running costs for it. The trend now does seem to be though that more people are drifting towards diesel because of their lower costs.

Your brother, the trusted mechanic, shoulda told you not to bother looking at an S4 if it was a 1.9 derv you were gonna end up with – a horse of a completely different colour I think you’ll find! It’s rare in a very minor way – plenty of RS4′s around and they’re a better motor by far… I’d like to know who owns it too!!! I’d a Cayenne taken during the night in an aggravated & very frightening manner from my house in Oct 2006 – it took the guards over an hour to get here and the story never even made the local free adds rag…

there has been a spate of vicious robberies from petrol stations using these kind of cars, I’d say its linked therefore the need to broadcast it. its good thinking from the gardai imo

S7 I doubt it. That car is so rare it would be really hard for burglars keep it out of sight. And there wasn’t s7 in produce yet in 2007, think started in 2011…

The rarity of the model over here, its also an extremely fast car. Will most likely be used for a robbery somewhere because if chased, the cops won’t have much that will keep into it. Plus there’s very few cars around with that kinda performance that have 4 doors and can seat 4 adults comfortably.

Well it’s a bit hard to break into a house and demand the keys off someone if there’s nobody home Jacki, so yeah by actually reading the article it’s fairly easy to figure that part out! And there doesn’t have to be injury for it to be aggravated burglary, it’s the interaction between intruder / burglar and the homeowner that creates the specific offence!!

If someone has a weapon in their possession during a burglary it becomes and aggravated burglary! No one needs to be injured!
