Loaded Magnum revolver discovered in planned search of Dublin home

A 44-year-old man is currently being questioned at Store Street garda station.

A 44-YEAR-old man has been arrested following the seizure of a loaded Magnum revolver gun discovered in Dublin on Tuesday.

The Smith & Wesson branded gun was discovered after a garda operation targeted a premises on Mountjoy Street in Dublin 7.

Gardaí have arrested the man under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, which allows them to question him for seven days before they have to release or charge him with a crime.

The search was part of ongoing investigations targeting serious criminal activity, according to gardaí this evening.

The search was conducted by the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau supported by the Special Crime Task Force.

A garda spokesman said: “A targeted search operation occurred in the Mountjoy Street area of Dublin 7 yesterday.

“During this search operation, gardaí recovered a firearm and ammunition. One man, aged 44 , was arrested in connection with this investigation. He is currently detained at Store Street garda station.”
