LAST YEAR, MEMBERS of the public redeemed close to €1.3 million worth of “old money”, or Irish punts.
Despite being withdrawn from circulation on 9 February 2002, the Central Bank says there is still almost a quarter of a billion euro of old Irish punts still missing and unaccounted for.
If you have any old banknotes, the Central Bank will reimburse you for their Euro equivalent. They could be in drawers or jars or anywhere at all around the house.
Today, we’re asking: Have you checked if you have old punts lying around at home?
