A MAN HAS been seriously injured following an incident in Dublin city centre this morning.

Gardaí say that a 26-year-old man was hit by a car at around 3.15am at the junction of Ormond Quay and the Ha’Penny Bridge. The pedestrian was seriously injured and taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment.

The road along the quays between Capel Street bridge and O’Connell bridge was temporarily closed to facilitate a garda forensic examination of the scene.

AA Roadwatch says that the incident has since been cleared but delays remain approaching the north quays from Wolfetone Quay.

Any witnesses to the incident are asked to contact Gardaí at Store Street on 01 666 8000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
