Three adults and two children taken to hospital after Roscommon crash

A 23-year-old man was seriously injured in the collision.

A MAN HAS been seriously injured and four other people were taken to hospital after a road crash in Roscommon in the early hours of this morning.

The collision between two cars occurred on the R363 Brideswell to Athlone Road at 4am. The sole occupant of one car, a 23-year-old man, was seriously injured and was taken to Tullamore Hospital.

There were two adults and two children, aged two and six years old, in the second car and all four were taken to Portiuncla Hospital in Ballinasloe for treatment. Gardaí said their medical condition is unknown at this stage.

The road has been closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination and it will remain closed until lunchtime with local diversions in place.
