60-year-old woman dies after being hit by a car in Co Kerry

The incident happened at around 6.30 pm at a retail park in Tralee.

A 60-YEAR-OLD female pedestrian has died this evening after being struck by a car at the Manor West retail park in Tralee, Co Kerry.

The incident took place at around 6.30 pm this evening.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, and her body has been removed to Kerry General Hospital.

The driver of the car was uninjured, and the road is closed this evening for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Local diversions are in place.

This evening’s incident brings to 173 the number of people killed on Irish roads so far in 2014. Some 33 of those have been pedestrians.

That’s up from 165 at the same time last year.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to call Tralee Garda station on 066-710-2300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111, or contact any Garda station.
