Let’s look at a government bill from when Robert Mugabe visited this island.

WHEN ZIMBABWE’S THEN-Prime Minister Robert Mugabe visited Ireland in 1983, he was treated to some top Dublin hospitality.

During a working lunch in Iveagh House, there was no shortage of alcoholic beverages. Hennessy, Winter’s Tale, some Baileys Cream and a few Smithwick’s were all ordered in Iveagh House on 8th December 1983.

The cost for the whole lot? £148.70.

That works out at 60p for a pint of Stout, £2.28 for a brandy and £20 for a bottle of vintage port.
