Security alert ends as viable device found in Belfast

PSNI have taken the object away for further forensic examinations.

A SIX-HOUR SECURITY alert has ended in east Belfast after police found a viable device in the area.

PSNI officers were called out to Flora Street this afternoon after a report of a suspicious object was received.

ATO have finished their examination of the scene and have taken the object – described as viable – away for further forensic examinations.

A vehicle has also been taken away for examinations.

The street was closed for the day as a result of the alert and police thanks the local community for their patience and understanding during the operation.
