Nicola sure they are free to practice their religion and society is also free to make fun of them. By not allowing this gives the impression of intellectual respect where a degree of ridicule is warranted. It is your right to go out on the street with pencils up your nose and proclaim communication with beings from another galaxy but society would not be better if it didnt poke fun at you for doing so. Seany, if you are a non believer then you are an Atheist. I don’t call myself an Atheist, I call myself a Humanist BUT I am an Atheist. That’s what the word means.

A cult is a religious grouping who have abnormal or bizarre irrational beliefs and rationalism or having a Scientific approach to reality is therefore not a cult.

Humanists are entitled to fight for their rights. Religion was forced down my throat as a child. I did Honours Biology in The Leaving and the Catholics managed at the time to have Evolution banned from the curriculum. Considering that Biology has been described as “the study of Evolution” you can see how ridiculous that was.
Only in recent times have basic human rights been allowed in Ireland because of the opposition of the Catholic Church. The misogynist religious still fight the right of women to choose to proceed with a pregnancy and force thousands to travel abroad each year for terminations.

While irrational and superstitious people force their religion beliefs on me I will fight them. And I won’t apologise for it either

12,500…….that figure made my day, if the footage is anything to go by its made up of folks predominantly over the age of 65. The Catholic church in Ireland is on it’s last legs. Poor Susie, I never claimed to be catholic or christian – in fact I am a klingon – poking fun at an athiest who seems pre-occupied with christianity. If you had any sense of humour you’d know that an electric fence “tickles your willy” when you piss on it – I would suggest it for you, but fear it’s not as effective a prank on a female :)

Well, I hope that’s working out for you… btw, the reason we’re “preoccupied” with Christianity is that it affects every fibre of society, people prop up the Catholic Church, they hold on to their institutional power, they monopolise education, charity, they lobby government, they promote antiquated patriarchal laws and behaviours that make women second class citizens. Never mind all the child abuse, they f*ck every single one of us. If religion were just a case of personal faith, it would make no difference to me what people believe, but it’s not.
