WATCH: Sheepdogs could be joining the dole queue if herding drones take off

A sheep farmer in Carlow has tried out a very modern type of farming…

A SHEEP FARMER in Carlow has tried a very modern way of herding his sheep from field to field.

The sheepdog may have to hang up his collar because ‘Shep The Drone’ has arrived and it’s taking no prisoners. The video, shot by Paul Brennan, shows the drone expertly herding around 100 sheep into a field.

We’re not sure if it’s just because the footage has been sped up, but the sheep look suitably freaked. We’ve heard they’re petitioning for the return of the canine herder.
