Texas campus issues alert amid reports of shooter

Lone Star College System’s campus in the Houston area has told students to take immediate shelter or avoid coming in.

A COLLEGE CAMPUS in Texas is on lock-down amid reports of a shooter on campus.

Lone Star College System issued an alert on its website Tuesday telling students and faculty on its Houston-area campus in north Harris County to take immediate shelter or avoid the campus.

Spokesman Jed Young says there are reports of a shooter.

Aerial footage from local television stations shows emergency personnel attending to some people on stretchers and at least one being taken into an ambulance.

Others can be seen running from a building led by officers.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office says it has no immediate details.

These headlines are appearing nearly once a week now. Their government have to do something about it and stop squabbling over relatively minor issues. There is something seriously wrong with a society if your kids can’t get educated without worrying about nutjob murdering them on their way to class.

People all to easily blame guns (which are significant part of the problem) and there is also a problem with how mental health is treated but the main issue in my opinion is the media frenzy after shootings. I know people should hear about stuff like this when it happens, but to any person with the mental health issues that would make them consider killing others on such a scale it does nothing but show them how much attention they will get if they follow through with it.

  The govt and the media are doing something. This was not a random, mass, crazy shooter. This was an argument between 2 people, happened to be at a community college and one had a gun and used it. Any and every story near any public place is making headlines. This will force the issue of control. This story could just as easily been with a knife- these people knew each other.

Here we go again, apparently gun shops in Texas are opening early tomorrow to avail of another sudden rush on personal protection weapons, USA what a crazy bunch, but hey they need to protect the 2nd amendment incase those dam “Red coats” invade!!!!

This one is quite different last months. It seems that two students had a gun fight and some unfortunate people were injured in the crossfire.

Before we get holier than thou on this just consider the gang land killings in Dublin.

Social breakdown in self centred capitalist societies which abandon the needs of the person will suffer from people’s catastrophic nervous breakdowns.

People cannot function well in isolation and some cannot manage in competitive unforgiving money led economies. They lose the head and try to kill as many people they blame as they can.

  Fair enough,but I didn’t ask how you were going to raise your children. Which by the way is no different from the way most well reasoned people would aim to raise their kids. I just don’t get how you are trying to link an economic system with mass murders in educational institutions.
  
  From what I understand, the majority of these killers have one thing in common and that is that they were very badly bullied while in education. They are made feel like nobody in school, like they don’t matter….then they see how other high school shooters are given so much attention in the media. Every newspaper does an in dept analysis of the shooting, then finishing off with a detailed account of the killer and the possible reasons for the shooting. The killer gets to make sure, at last, that someone will remember their name. So it has everything to do with mental health and bullying, and very little to do with economic policy.
