Man dies after being shot and dropped at hospital

Gardai still don’t know where the shooting took place but have found the car that ferried the man to St James’s in Dublin.

A 35-YEAR-OLD man has died tonight after he was dropped off at a Dublin city hospital. The man was left at St James’s Hospital, with suspected gunshot wounds, at 7pm. He was pronounced dead by medics at the hospital.

Gardai are now investigating where the shooting might have taken place – the location is not yet known. The car that was used to ferry the man to the hospital was later found on Cork Street in Dublin 8 and the area around it has been preserved for technical examination.

There have been no arrests and gardai are appealing for help with their investigation. Anyone with information about the incident – either the drop-off at St James’s Hospital, the parking of the car at Cork Street or the shooting itself – are asked to contact Kilmainham Garda station on 01 666 9700.
