Shots fired outside Westmeath pub

Gardaí said no one was injured in the incident but they are appealing for witnesses.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for witnesses to a shooting incident outside a pub in Westmeath yesterday evening.

A spokesperson told TheJournal.ie it is believed “a number of shots were fired” at around 7.30pm outside the pub in the Ballymore area of Athlone.

There have been no injuries reported. A Hyundai Trajet car with an LS plate, used in the incident was later found set alight.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and the investigation is ongoing.
