Poll: Should chippers and fast food restaurants be allowed near schools?

Sensible move to tackle obesity, or a government over-reach?

REPORTS TODAY SAY that the government is considering a plan which would create an exclusion zone around schools for businesses that serve fast food.

The 1.5km zone would also apply to playgrounds and youth facilities. With a quarter of 11-year-olds now obese, the move is seen as a positive step to tackle the problem.

However, there are those who might see it as an over reach by planning authorities, an unnecessary intrusion on peoples’ lives.

What do you think?
