New team, new enemy: Sky One’s Strike Back gets its long-awaited return

Section 20 is back and the stakes are higher than ever.

IT’S BEEN OVER two years since Section 20 took on its final enemy, but with a notorious terrorist on the run, it’s time for one of the world’s most effective covert military intelligence programs to be resurrected.

Featuring a brand new cast of special ops soldiers and a challenge with higher stakes than ever, the sixth season of Strike Back kicks off on Sky One on Tuesday October 31 at 9pm.

When Omair Idrisi, the man behind a series of horrific terrorist attacks on the West, escapes prison during a jailbreak, Colonel Adeena Donovan (Nina Sosanya) needs military personnel with the skills to take on a vicious, highly skilled enemy. She needs to restore Section 20.

Joining the new ranks are Sergeant Thomas McAllister (Warren Brown), US special operative Sergeant Samuel Wyatt (Daniel MacPherson), Lance Corporal Gracie Novin (Alin Sumarwata) and Captain Natalie Reynolds (Roxanne McKee).

What follows is a thrilling journey of terrorist take-downs, military attacks and genius tactics, as the Section 20 ops attempt to find Idrisi before he carries out an attack set to change the face of Europe forever.

The new season has been a full year in the making, and with old fans to satisfy and new ones to impress, the cast are feeling the pressure. “We just want to get it right for everyone,” says Roxanne McKee.

As well as the usual training that goes into a high-energy role, the Strike Back cast were subjected to weeks of gruelling weapon, martial arts and skills training in the Middle East and the US.

“We did six weeks to get us proficient with weapons, and then we were training with a Navy SEAL over in the States. And then we have British military advisors on set as well, so it’s very intense,” says Roxanne.

For Warren Brown, the hours in the gym were nothing compared to the intensity on set.

I’ve worked on big-scale projects before but the pace and ambition of Strike Back is pretty crazy. Explosions, gun fights… It’s all a bit of a blur to be honest because we’re literally doing stunts every day.

The new series may have a five-series legacy to live up to, but according to Daniel MacPherson, the action is only just beginning. “I think this team, this version of the show, will just get better the longer it goes,” he says. “It’s just going to grow from here.”

Want a taste of the action? Strike Back starts tomorrow night, Tuesday October 31st at 9pm exclusively on Sky One.
