GARDAÍ SAID TODAY that they are investigating as murder the death of a young mother whose body was discovered at a hotel yesterday.

It emerged yesterday that a woman’s body had been found in a hotel room at the Plaza Hotel in Tallaght. The woman was subsequently identified as Sonia Blount, aged 31, from Tallaght.

A man in his 20s was arrested in connection with the incident. He remains in custody at Tallaght Garda Station.

This evening, gardaí said that the preliminary results of a post mortem examination have been given to investigators.

However, the details of the post mortem are not being released for “operational reasons”.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information to contact the incident room at Tallaght Garda Station on 01 6666000 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
