St Vincent's Hospital officials to meet with HSE over salary top-ups

It was revealed last month that the group’s CEO receives an extra €136,500 on top of his HSE salary.

REPRESENTATIVES FROM ST Vincent’s Healthcare Group are due to meet with the HSE’s Director General Tony O’Brien and other officials to discuss top-ups made to the salaries of a number of its staff.

Just before Christmas, the hospital released details of executives’ salaries, which showed CEO Nicholas Jermyn is paid an additional €136,591 on top of his HSE salary of €136, 282.

Five other high-level staff were also said to be in receipt of additional income on top of the salaries paid to them by the HSE. The hospital’s director of finance Cormac Maloney receives an additional €32,544 on top of his €108,332 HSE funded salary and the director of nursing Mary Duff got an extra €14,853 on top of her €81,552 HSE salary.

However the healthcare group said at the time that all of this additional money came from private sources.

The hospital operates both private and public services and Jermyn said in a letter to the HSE last month that any extra money paid to staff came from income generated by private services, stressing there are no charitable donations involved.

It is expected that executives will also be called before the Public Accounts Committee for a grilling from TDs when it is back in session.
