Poll: Do you agree with the plan to let Star Wars back on the Skellig?

The minister who allowed the project has been accused of going to the ‘Dark Side’ by one campaign group.

MINISTER HEATHER HUMPHREYS has okayed a further round of Star Wars filming on Skellig Micheal – in spite of opposition from groups like An Taisce and Birdwatch Ireland.

Filming already took place last year on the rocky island some 12km out from the Kerry coast but more is now planned ahead of the film’s Christmas release.

Attempting to allay concerns, Humphreys has said an ecologist and specialist departmental staff will be present for the duration of the filming.

They’ll have the authority to stop or modify work at any point, she said.

What do you think?
