Three missing parrots (and stolen washing powder) found during police searches

The final of three parrots was found in a house in Newtownards today. One man has been arrested.

THREE PARROTS THAT were stolen from a tropical butterfly house have now been recovered.

The PSNI said this evening that a parrot recovered by police during a search of a property in the Burnreagh Drive area of Newtownards on 14 May is one of the parrots stolen earlier this month.

The burglary was at Seaforde Gardens and Tropical Butterfly House in the Seaforde Road area of Downpatrick on 12 May.

Today’s find means that all three parrots have now been located and returned.

During the search of the property in the Newtownards area, a number of other items, including boxes of washing powder which are believed to have been stolen during burglaries in the Down area, were recovered.

A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of four counts of burglary, handling stolen goods and possession of Class B and Class C drugs. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
