Britain is being battered by Storm Angus - but we haven't felt it

HEAVY RAIN HAS caused flooding across Britain as the tail-end of Storm Angus makes its presence known.

Flood sirens were heard in Yorkshire last night and hundreds of homes in the north east of England were left without power as the rain swept across the country.

The storm also forced a Stena Line ferry to spend the night at sea after it was unable to dock at Fishguard in Wales.

The British Met Office has extended warnings over high winds, with a warning set to stay in place until this morning.

The Met Office says that there will be gusts of 50 to 60mph on coasts, with a low risk of 70-80mph.

In Ireland, however, we have escaped the worst of the storm.

Today will be cold and breezy at first today, but winds will moderate later, says Met Éireann. There will be sunny spells and scattered showers with highest temperatures of nine degrees.
