The Sun has mistakenly reported that Prince Philip has died

The article appeared on site for a few minutes before being removed, but still shows up on Google.

UK MEDIA OUTLET The Sun made a major faux-pas this morning, after it ran a story on its online site with the headline “Prince Philip dead at 95, how did the Duke of Edinburgh die etc etc”.

Prince Philip, however, is not dead.

Rumours circulated this morning surrounding the health of Queen Elizabeth and her husband, Philip, after reports of a “highly unusual” staff meeting due to be called at Buckingham Palace.

The Sun, however, appeared to jump the gun around these rumours, publishing a story declaring that the Prince had died.

The story only appeared onsite for a few minutes before being removed, but a Google search still pulls up the story as a top result.

A Buckingham Palace official told The Associated Press that a meeting of household staff had indeed been called for this morning, but said there is “no cause for concern”.

Both the Queen and Prince Philip appeared in good health yesterday, with the former meeting with Prime Minister Theresa May in the palace and the latter making an appearance at Lord’s cricket ground.
