Suspicious device found in Co Meath

The device was discovered in the early hours of this morning on the Summerhill Road in Trim, and has been made safe by explosives experts.

GARDAÍ IN MEATH are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a suspicious object in Trim in the early hours of this morning.

The object was found at the Wellington Monument on the Summerhill Road in the town at approximately 1.10am. The Defence Forces’ Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was requested, and they attended the scene at 3.20am.

Gardaí report that the object was made safe.

The area in which the device was discovered is non-residential and no-one was evacuated.

The area has been sealed off and diversions put in place.
