1. #PHONE HACKING: The UK police investigation into allegations of phone hacking have spread to a second publication. Officers are understood to have searched the offices of the Daily Star Sunday in London this afternoon. Earlier today, two former employees of the News of the World were arrested by police investigating the hacking claims.

2. #STEM CELLS: The pregnant mother of a four-year-old boy says she will borrow €10,000 to pay a private company to harvest umbilical stem cells which could potentially save his life. The young boy is in remission after being diagnosed with rare clear cell sarcoma last year, but the family has been told there is a high risk of a relapse.

3. #EMPLOYEES: The government has pledged it will protect low-wage workers in the wake of yesterday’s High Court ruling that the JLC system was unconstitutional. Minister Richard Bruton said temporary measures would be brought in to protect vulnerable employees before another wage-setting system could be introduced.

4. #DSK: Prosecutors in Paris have opened the official investigation into allegations that former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn attempted to rape a woman in 2003. French novelist and journalist Tristane Banon filed a criminal complaint alleging that he attacked her during an interview for a book project.
