"A taser is not a toy" say police as 14-year-old arrested over injury to boy (9)

The 14-year-old has been questioned on suspicion of assault.

POLICE IN BELFAST have arrested a 14-year-old boy on suspicion of assault and seized a taser after a nine-year-old sustained an arm injury.

The teenager was questioned on suspiction of “Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm” a statement said.

He was later released.

“We received a report of an incident in which a nine year old boy sustained an injury to his arm and a police investigation commenced,” Inspector Roy Watton said.

“This is a very serious incident and I would remind both children and parents that a taser is not a toy and it can cause a lot of pain when used on someone.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed this incident to contact Police at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101 or alternatively anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
