A few years ago, at the hind tit of the boom, as Beckett would put it, I was dragged to a Galway Races event in the Radisson.
The place was packed, gushers of liquor were erupting all over the place, everybody partying like the fall of berlin.
In the middle of the throng stood Lowry, in a navy blazer, a few square inches of tan exposed by the extra couple of open buttons on his shirt.

Ah shure it’s all good fun. No matter about the people who can’t pay their mortgages, can’t buy Christmas presents, facing emigration in the New Year. Shure isn’t it just an oul laugh.
