Man charged after teenager assaulted and left in 'dark, isolated' area

The woman was “left abandoned in a dark and isolated area of the Carr Road after being assaulted,” detectives said.

DETECTIVES INVESTIGATING AN assault on a 19-year-old woman near the town of Carryduff, Co Down have charged a man with committing an offence “with intent to commit a sexual offence” and criminal damage.

The woman had got into a vehicle outside a bar in the Lower Crescent area of South Belfast in the early hours of 16 September last.

She was “left abandoned in a dark and isolated area of the Carr Road after being assaulted,” a statement from the PSNI said.

The 33-year-old man was arrested in the Ballymoney area last Tuesday, and is expected to appear before Lisburn Magistrates Court on Friday 22 May.
