Motor Envy: The Tesla Model S is a sensational electric supercar

Motoring turned up to 11.

What’s this then?

This is of the most talked about cars of the last decade, and one that lives up to the hype. This is, of course, a Tesla Model S and this particular S 60 model can be yours for €79,995.

What’s so special about it?

The Tesla Model S is a sleek and sexy sportback with some serious green credentials. It is a car that appeals to tech lovers and driving enthusiasts alike – not only is it laden with fantastic features but it delivers a powerful driving performance as well.

Any standout design features?

For me, the standout part of the design is how the car is so streamlined on the outside but spacious on the inside. The liftback style boot is very practical and, because there is no combustion engine, there is also a frunk (a front trunk) meaning the Model S has plenty of room to carry all your gear. You can fit three child seats across the back too.

And what powers this Tesla Model S?

This Tesla Model S 60 is powered by a 285kW electric motor with a maximum power output of 225kW (302hp) and is fitted with a 60kWh battery pack (hence the name S 60). It’s capable of a range of around 340km and this rear-wheel drive version can go from 0-100km/h in just 5.5 seconds and onto a top speed of 210km.

Does the Tesla Model S have any luxurious touches?

The cabin is more minimal than luxurious but it does have a premium, executive feel. It is very refined and calm inside. The main feature of the cabin is a huge 17-inch vertical touchscreen from where you can control almost all functions of the car. It is an elegant system with tonnes of features and some cool hidden Easter eggs too.

But who would drive this car?

Someone who is longing for a supercar but also cares about tailpipe emissions. It’s also a great choice for those looking for a spacious family car with an electric powertrain and cutting-edge features.
