1.#UNEMPLOYMENT: The Government has unveiled details of major reforms to the jobseekers’ welfare system, in a scheme which aims to get 75,000 long-term unemployed people back into the workforce.
2. #CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL: Health minister James Reilly has said delays caused by An Bord Pleanála’s rejection of the National Children’s Hospital plans will be got over “very quickly”. He said the Government was “100 per cent committed” to the project.
3. #GAY MARRIAGE: A new poll has revealed extremely strong support for same-sex marriage rights, with more than 70 per cent of people saying they supported altering the Constitution to allow it.
4. #PRAYER: Members of the Seanad should reflect in silence for 30 seconds before the daily prayer is read out, according to proposals being put forward today. Ivana Bacik has said the move would acknowledge the presence of non-Christians.
5. #SEALS: Two seals have been found shot on Tramore Beach in Waterford. An animal rights group said their injuries were “horrific” and they had to be put down.
