1.#FILING PROBLEM: The Department of Health has confirmed that it will return files relating to mother and baby homes to the National Archives. The move comes after TheJournal.ie revealed that they had been removed eight years ago.

2.#PROTEST: A man was detained by gardaí as angry protesters confronted Taoiseach Enda Kenny. Around 20 demonstrators, who had been protesting the installation of water meters at nearby Tonlegee Drive, took part in the action at St Joseph’s Hospital.

3.#TRUCE: Both Aer Lingus staff and management have accepted an interim Labour Court recommendation aimed at settling a long-running dispute at the airline. Aer Lingus said in a statement that it accepted the recommendations and would begin to implement them.

4.#ABORTION: Over 3,500 Irish women travelled to the UK for abortions last year, figures released today show. The Irish Family Planning Association called the number an “indictment of the State’s treatment of women”, while The Life Institute welcomed the fall in numbers.
