1.#ANGLO: Former Anglo Irish Bank executives Pat Whelan and Willie McAteer have been sentenced to community. Speaking at sentencing, Judge Martin Nolan put the blame on the Financial Regulators office, saying that it was have been “most unjust to jail these two men when I feel that a State agency had led the two men into error and illegality”.

2.#SETTLEMENT: A 14-year-old girl who was left with irreversible brain damage after her birth has made a settlement worth €1.5 million with the HSE. Mary Malee said an apology from the hospital “would have been appreciated” but “at least the payment of the compensation lessens the future financial worries”.

3.#SEARCH: The search for two men missing since last Tuesday has continued today. Eoin O’Connor and Anthony Keegan are believed to have travelled to Cavan, but their car was in Mullingar. It is believed their disappearance is linked to a major crime gang.

4.#MISSING: A Sinn Féin TD has appealed for help in locating his 16-year-old son. Aengus Ó Snodaigh’s son Lorcan has been missing since an incident in the family home in which his teenage brother, Fearghal, was stabbed.

5.#TRIAL: A 50-year-old man who is accused of 50 child sex and pornography offences has been sent forward for trial. The man is accused of seven charges of sexual acts with a child under the age of 17. on dates in 2011. Three charges of sexual assault against the same female in 2007 were also detailed, including alleged sexual assaults at a Dublin airport hotel carpark, Croke Park and a location in Letterkenny.
