1. #SHOOTING: A 30-year-old man was shot dead in the Tipperary village of Golden this morning. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

2. #MISSING: Police in Wales have arrested a man on suspicion of murder following the disappearance of 38-year-old Irish woman Catherine Gowing from Flintshire.

3. #STILL IN CONTEMPT: Despite losing an appeal against his conviction and imprisonment for contempt of court, Seán Quinn Jr may be released from Mountjoy on Friday.

4. #A BAD AFTERNOON: Lance Armstrong has stepped down as chairman of his Livestrong cancer-fighting charity as a result of US Anti-Doping Agency’s damning report into alleged doping by the cyclist. Nike has also revealed that they will no longer be associated with the sportsman.

5. #RAIN: It rained overnight. It rained particularly hard in the south and east. It may have rained the most at a Waterford train station.
