1. #SAVITA: The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has urged the husband of Savita Halappanavar to meet with the chairman of the inquiry into her death – despite the solicitor for the widower insisting that such a meeting would not happen. Praveen Halappanavar has stated he has no confidence in a HSE inquiry and wants a public investigation into his wife’s death to be launched.
2. #OPERATION WIRELESS: The number of people arrested in a major crackdown on organised crime has increased to 113 in total this afternoon. The arrestees are being held in stations across 13 counties.
3. #DUBLIN: An Army Bomb Disposal Team carried out a controlled explosion late last night on an improvised explosive device at an apartment block in the Killinarden Heights area of Tallaght, in Dublin 24. The device, which was located outside the main entrance to a three-storey apartment block, was rendered safe by way of a controlled explosion.
4. #AUSTRALIA: Australian immigration officials in New South Wales have made it easier for Irish skilled workers to settle there by expanding its Skilled Occupations List – meaning Irish people from a variety of different trades and professions can now be nominated by the government for a visa entitling them to work in the state.
5. #FOR SALE: The landmark National Irish Bank building in Dublin city centre, which has housed various banks since 1867, is being put up for sale by the owners Danske Bank. It could be yours for a cool €4 million.
